Letter: HK Project Grad wouldn't be possible without help

To the Editor:

On June 15, H-K Project Graduation hosted its 27th celebration for the 2017 high school graduates. At 4:15 in the morning, right before we started raffling off prizes, Dave Carey asked the “alumni” what the numbers 27 and zero mean: 27 years of holding this event and zero fatalities on graduation night. Another successful year!

We couldn’t have done it without the many volunteers: those on the committee and those that help out during the year, the night of and the morning after. We also couldn’t do this without our many financial supporters. This event costs approximately $22,000. We are not part of any school or town budget. We raise this money through fundraising and outright donations.

It’s incredible the response we get to our postal patron mailing. Every donation, from the check for $5 to the checks for $150, they all help us reach our goal. We thank all of the residents of Haddam, Higganum, Haddam Neck and Killingworth who contribute to us. We also thank the businesses that contribute, both financially and in kind, through prizes for our graduates to food that we serve at the celebration.

Following is a list of the businesses that support us. Thank you to everyone for helping us reach 27-0.
